Personalized Miracles

“Men/women create real miracles when they use their God-given courage and intelligence.” ~ Jean Anouilh

The fact is, we all hope and pray for miracles in our lives.

As children, we dream of finding Aladdin’s magic lamp where we rub, ask, and the Genie grants our every wish.

As adults, we know magic carpets and lamps are metaphors for hope and God’s Grace.

For our prayers to be answered when we need them the most.

Jan and I always believed in the Amish philosophy that “Working prayers have a better chance of being answered than waiting prayers.”

As Christians, we believe God answers all prayers, but the answer might not be exactly what we hoped it would be.

Garth Brooks wrote a wonderful song that beautifully addressed this in “Thank God for Unanswered Prayers”!

No question, in times of hopelessness and despair, we pray for a miracle…

Usually for Life over Death.

When facing an all-consuming, fast-moving cancer, our prayers are rightfully addressed for the miracle of life.

But sometimes, cancer wins, we die, and those who are left behind are expected also to live.

Which, of course, is why I wrote Grieve With Grace, to move well beyond just accepting the loss and learning to live with it.

Instead, GRACE lights our life with the miracle of Gratitude, Resilience, Authenticity, Creativity, and Empathy.

Yes, Grace easily overcomes Grief by building a bridge over our river of tears.

I believe in hope and Grace more than you might think!

But hope is not a strategy, nor is simply having a good idea, especially when it comes to cancer.

For the past 12 months, I have been talking with medical professionals on the leading edge of cancer research.

Now, I am loosely collecting my thoughts around the idea of creating a Cancer Miracle Network, AI-powered, and available to all.

Imagine heart-engaged, helping hands, actually creating the miracle we all pray for when facing this horrible disease.

Personalized Miracles…

Over 2 million people will be condemned with a cancer diagnosis this year.

Almost 650,000 will die from cancer this year, as did my precious Jan.

Of course, this is a terrible reality.

One that we may be able to change.

The first step of creating change is to envision a different future.

Scientists are working on a cancer vaccine to inoculate us like we did with Polio.

Many are working on new chemotherapy drugs.

Some are working on a completely different approach to employing those drugs more effectively.

The great news is that AI-empowered solutions are now being fast-tracked to attack cancer where it lives… getting cancer to kill itself… one cell at a time… one life at a time.

The result could be the annihilation of cancer in our lifetime.

We are on the precipice of watching the death of cancer, and the joy of a life of wonder and happiness.

Yes, life is precious. Death is final.

But love endures.

Again, I live in Grace and expect to die in Grace.

When you decide to follow the principles of GRACE: Gratitude… Resilience… Authenticity… Creativity… and Empathy… you will certainly shorten the time you remain in grief.

God Bless,
