“Boldness doesn’t mean rude, obnoxious, loud, or disrespectful. Being bold is being firm, sure, confident, fearless, daring, strong, resilient, and not easily intimidated. It means you’re willing to go where you’ve never been, willing to try what you’ve never tried, and willing to trust what you’ve never trusted. Boldness is quiet, not noisy.” ~ Mike Yaconelli
Fly Like an Eagle?
This is not as easy as it might seem.
The eagles you see in flight are survivors.
They are HIGHLY Resilient.
About 40% fail to learn to fly and perish on their first flight.
Flying is not an inherited skill.
Less than 50% make it to their first birthday because they failed to learn how to hunt and fly.
Hunting is not an inherited skill.
Eagles that make it past their first year have a long-term mortality of about 25%. They can live 30-40 years in the wild because they are constantly learning and reinventing themselves.
Most experts attribute their longevity to paying attention, learning from their parents, and, most of all, learning how to remain in flight.
The eagles you see in the wild are highly RESILIENT creatures. They are beautiful, graceful, and resourceful.
But they thrive because they can pick themselves up, learn from their environment, and quickly get back into the daily hunt.
When we experience loss, we must do what eagles do, get off the ground and back in the air.
“31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” ~ Isaiah 40:31
The Science of Resilience…
You will learn that there is substantial neuroscience behind this keyword.
Our resource section has specific advice and instructions.
But, the process is simple, and you can do it.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships. …
- Change how you respond to situations. …
- Turn setbacks into opportunities for growth. …
- Develop a positive outlook. …
- Maintain a healthy perspective. …
- Take care of yourself. …
- Find ways to help others.
Simple, Hardly Easy…
Like Gratitude, I thought this was something you are. In truth, it is a SKILL that you develop over time.
As we all work through this week on Resilience, keep in mind that none of this is theory.
It is a BECOMING word… over time, you want to find life after grief… and becoming truly Resilient is a really big stone to set in your archway of Grace.
God Bless,
Eric Richard Haas
GRACE NOTE: You have heard the word your entire life. Do you believe you are as Resilient as you need to be — now or in times of great distress? This is where I advise total honesty.
