Grief Made Graceful

Two Swans ~ One Heart

For those of you who have read this, my 27th book, you will understand how we always have a choice between a positive and a negative. You can either be sad or you can be happy — but you cannot be sad and happy at the same time.

It is up to you to choose the positive and reject the negative.

When you lose someone you love, you quickly see that the continuum between mourning and grieving is blurry. As is the choice between despair or gratitude.

You are drowning in a perpetual stream of tears. It is difficult to see the good within the prison of despair.

But you must. And you need to do it quickly — sooner, rather than later, or maybe never.

It is said when one swan dies, the other dies of a broken heart shortly thereafter.

It is also said that when you lose a loved one, you have a much higher risk of death for the same reason — a broken heart.

Broken heart disease is a real thing.

In my case, my saving Grace was two giant words: Gratitude and Creativity.

Gratitude for having 30 wonderful years with a woman I loved, respected and adored.

Creativity because I knew I could not remain in the prison of grief one second longer than necessary.

My heart is healing because it is full of Grace.

Grace will save you too.

God Bless,

E. R. Haas
